Youth Political Participation in Lira

 / June 28,2023

The National Secretariat for Special Interest Groups (NSSIGs), in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD), convened a youth engagement in Lira City aimed at promoting peaceful and meaningful political participation.

The engagement focused on empowering youth leaders to participate constructively in democratic processes, particularly during the election period. Discussions emphasized informed decision-making, ideological clarity, and non-violent political engagement.

A major highlight of the engagement was the Entrepreneurship for Peace Exhibition, where young entrepreneurs showcased innovations, participated in pitching sessions, and explored opportunities for economic empowerment. Youth were encouraged to invest in sustainable income-generating activities as a pathway to peace and stability.

Leaders urged young people to critically review political party manifestos, engage in dialogue rather than confrontation, and use entrepreneurship and innovation as tools for national transformation.
